About The Crownring Initiative
My name is Jay Walter. I was that kid that could fix nearly anything. I've always had a strong interest is finding how things work. I have never been at a loss of understanding for any machine. I think of myself as an energy guy, always in search of that Holy Grail of power.
In 1985 I contracted Lyme disease and went undiagnosed for 25 years. It took a toll. I lost fine motor control and for a time even my ability to walk. Bouncing back was long and difficult, but, to some degree, I managed to again gain control of my movement. It was the bicycle that brought me the farthest. Having my hands and feet constantly in contact with firm surfaces left me feeling almost normal. I rode often.
I am not a bicycle guy. It's just another machine. In that I was on my home turf. Tinkering with the drive was more about overcoming my weakness than creating anything significant and lasting. Crownring has, however, proven itself to be significant. Having concern for our planet has a lot to do with how I've pressed forward. Studies have shown that bicycle use can substantially slow our decline into the run-a-way climate change we are trying to beat before 2030. Of all the machines we have created, bicycles have the lowest cost to reward ratio. We literally need bicycles to beat the tipping point.
Here I am, gone as far as I can on my own. I do what I can, learn what I can, but at the end of the day I'm just the guy in the shop. I talk to machines. Buiseness is not among my skills.
I am pursuing environmental organizations as well as Angel Investors that might contribute to bringing Crownring into the light. Crownring has promise, both for fighting climate change by making bicycles more accessible, and for profit. My hope is the former will be the inspiration for the team I'll need to build that will take Crownring to its capacity. Do what you love, the money will follow. There is plenty to go around. Crownring can carry its own weight and then some. What we need now is initiative.
